Miss Anne Martin Wilson, 1953 valedictorian of James Monroe High School, won the semi-final round today in the WRVA quiz contest in Richmond.
The 18-year-old scholar compiled the best score in the history of the quiz. The victory raises her scholarship to Westhampton College of the University of Richmond to $600.
Miss Wilson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fielding L. Wilson, 607 Hawke St., missed only one question in this morning’s semifinals.
Her record high score of 170 defeated Chesley Treadway, of Hermitage High School in Richmond, and Margaret Foster, of Waverly High.
The recorded quiz will be broadcast at 10 p.m. Friday, April 10, over station WRVA, co-sponsor with the university.”
